Dr. Cheng-Jie Gu is an experienced, patient focussed General Practitioner (GP) with a focus on integrative and functional medicine with over 30 years in medicine. She has a uniquely global perspective having worked in Shanghai, China, Bordeaux, France and New Zealand before flying across the Tasman to settle here in Melbourne, Victoria. In addition to General Medicine, Dr Gu also has training and skills in plastic surgery, obstetrics/gynaecology and dermatology.
Dr. Gu has a special interest and extensive experience in integrative medicine, disease prevention, health screening, and holistic treatment of medical conditions. Dr Gu works closely with her patients to develop and individual approach to care utilising integrative medicine approaches including life style approaches, nutritional and supplementation and IV Vitamin Therapy.
With her background in Plastic Surgery, Dr Gu continues to have a keen interest in skin cancer early detection and treatment and can undertake minor surgical procedures such as the repair of minor injuries, lumps / bumps and foreign body removal.
Dr Gu enjoys the comprehensive breadth of General Practice, she has additional interests in women’s health, including gynaecological health, breast checks and pap smears. She works with women and families as they undertake family planning and can support individuals who seek STI screening.
Dr Gu is an active member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australasian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine.
Apart from the challenges of general practice problem solving, Dr Gu enjoys helping people to understand their conditions. This empowers her patients to have the correct information and understanding of their treatment options and making the best decisions.
