How to get the most out of your Medical Intravenous Therapy (MIT)

Clarendon Medical’s intravenous and intramuscular vitamin therapy specialises in your comfort. Vitamin therapy intends to assist your body function at its peak! We deliver vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream to achieve their best possible absorption.

Our team of passionate doctors and registered nurses have over 30 years combined industry experience and are well versed in all aspects of vitamin therapy.

The key to a successful IV therapy experience lies in preparation. We recommend the following:

DO

  • Hydrate! Drink plenty of water this helps open the blood vessels and ensure easy IV placement. Hydration ensures better vitamin uptake ensuring you feel great afterwards.
  • Eat! Being satiated is important for health but also for a successful IV.
  • Dress appropriately, remember our staff need access to your arm.
  • Exercise. A brisk walk will encourage blood flow to your veins thereby making IV placement easier. Think about parking a block or two away and enjoying the walk.
  • Entertainment. Bring a book or download your favourite audiobook. Clarendon Medical offers free guest Wi-Fi.

AVOID

  • Avoid caffeine before your appointment. This can dehydrate you and constrict the blood vessels and slower IV process.
  • Avoid alcohol the day before your appointment, alcohol is also dehydrating.
  • Avoid restrictive clothing. Rolling your sleeves can cause constriction on the vein and slow or obstruct the flow of your IV.

Remember, everyone is different and each Vitamin prescription can vary. An infusion can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes, please allow time accordingly.

If you are feeling uncomfortable, tell our nurse. We can slow the IV or cease the infusion at any time. If you are feeling unwell please say so immediately.

For those who experience anxiety with needles, talk to our nurse about strategies that can help keep you comfortable. Remember we want this experience to be one of wellbeing!
